C. Harrison - Mathieu

Christian Harrison will face Paul Henri Mathieu in the first round of US Open.

Mathieu is not in the best form at this moment and has only 1-7 on hard surface this season, but I still see him as a huge favorite here as he will face worlds number 694. Harrison have not impressed me with his play in qualifications and he was very lucky to reach main draw. He played all 3 matches in 3 sets and was lucky that Kravchuk got injured so he needed to retire him match.  He is also not so much experienced on this kind of tournaments as he mostly playing on challenger and ITF tour, this year he only face Smyczek from top 100 in Miami and lost 6-4 6-2.

On the other handIsaid that Mathie was poor on hard this season, but he had some good results this season on other surfaces, like finals in Montpellier and Quimper on indoors and semifinal in Gstaad on clay.  I think he shouldn’t have any troubles against player like Harrison as he is simply for at least one class above  him, so I think he will easily cover -5.5 games handicap.
