M`Gladbach hosts Schalke in the return match of the 8`th finals of the Europa League. They have 1:1 from the first match and don`t need to go for a win today. Yet Borussia doesn`t know how to play for a draw and even trying that would be foolish. One goal from Schalke and they are out. M`Gladbach is in good form lately and has 4-1-1 in the last 6 matches. Coach Hecking has made an improvement to Borussia`s performances after the break and especially on the offensive they look good. Stindl and Johnson are looking great while Rafael is hungry for goals after a long break. Both Stindl and Rafael had health issues recently but will be ready for this match. Without them Borussia wouldn`t look the same. The only real missing is Hazard but how he was playing they are better off.
The most recent home loss in the Europa League came against Fiorentina but it was not deserved. Borussia should have won with a couple of goals difference with all the chances created and missed by Hazard.
Schalke is doing really well in the Europa League and lost just once in the last 9 matches. They also won 6 of those. The latest two however were draws with Paok and Borussia at home. Their performances are much better here than in the league where Schalke is just 11`th. At home Schalke wins but away from home have just 1 win in the league. Their overall away stats are 1-4-6 which can be indicative playing against German opponents.
And Borussia is not someone they will like to meet often. They met just a few weeks back and Borussia won by 4:2 with Schalke just reducing the defecit in the end. Only the first part of the match was interesting but M`Gladbach soon took control and created chances without much effort.
Borussia won 9 of the last 10 home matches vs Schalke and that says something.
Borussia will miss: Traore, Schulz, Doucoure, Hazard. Schalke is without: Embolo, Baba, Naldo, Uchida, Coke.
Going for Borussia today.
