Deportivo have really just continued on from their excellent finish to last season which helped them to beat the drop. They've lost just 1 of their 9 Primera Division matches under Victor Sanchez and ironically it was perhaps the easiest of the bunch when they suffered a 3-2 home loss to newly promoted Sporting Gijon last time out. Espanyol are perhaps a little fortunate to have 3 wins to their name already. They were impressive against Valencia in midweek but their victory at Sociedad hinged on a 1st half sending off of Jeronimo Rullia and subsequent penalty decision. They were also a little lucky to beat Getafe on the opening day. They have been a little inconsistent really and it's hard to see them producing another performance of the same calibre just a few days after the Valencia game. Deportivo have looked good and are perhaps the most improved side in the league so consider backing them to win 2-1.
