Manchester United - Wolfsburg

United did not get off to the best of starts on their return to the group stage of the Champions League two weeks ago, as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Dutch Champions PSV Eindhoven. Despite the setback in Eindhoven, United have enjoyed an impressive start to their Premier League campaign and Saturday's 3-0 victory over Sunderland saw them move to the top of the table for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club. On the same night that United lost in the Netherlands, Wolfsburg were making their return to the Champions League after a six-year absence with a clash against CSKA Moscow. They marked the occasion by grinding out a 1-0 win at the Volkswagen Arena, as a goal late in the first half from summer signing Draxler saw them claim all three points. United and Wolfsburg have played each other twice in the Champions League, with both of those meetings coming in the group stage six seasons ago. It was the Reds who came out on top on both occasions.
