Nice - Monaco

Nice put together a very respectable 2014/15 campaign in Ligue 1, eventually finishing 11th. However, at times, their lack of attacking threat was a little too nice for opposing defence to go up against. They scored just 44 goals in 38 games, which wasn't as bad as most of the division's weakest teams, but didn't compare with the top 5. Monaco will make the 30-minute drive to neighbours Nice on Saturday after another summer of selling some big names - Kondogobia and Carrasco, and invested in some young talent. The policy paid dividends in the second half of 2014/15 when the team climbed into the Champions League place. This doesn't have the feel of a true classic, but it is a rivalry game and it does feature a pair of pretty good football teams. Nice have the home field advantage and this feels like an important game for this club. Monaco are a clear competitor for the title, along with PSG and Lyon, but their natural tendency might be to play a little negatively in a tough away game.
