It is only a couple of months since a painful 6-1 aggregate defeat to Motherwell crushed any hope Rangers had of completing a third straight promotion and taking up their place once more in the top flight. It almost goes without saying that that is the aim this year and nothing short of promotion will do. Rangers would be unwise to take them lightly though especially given the mauling that was handed out to them by Motherwell just a couple of months ago. St. Mirren ended last season well winning 3 of their last 5 Premiership matches to finish 6 points below Motherwell who proved far too good for Championship Rangers. They have lost a few players since then though and given the way Rangers played at Easter Road you have to fancy them to pick up all the points here. Warburton will look to attack and backing the Gers to win and there to be 3 or more goals in the game.
